Murad Khaled is heading from Bank of America to Apollo for a role in its capital solutions business, according to sources.
Apollo Capital Solutions partners with investment teams and clients across the Apollo platform on origination, capital markets and syndication activity.
Khaled and Apollo declined to comment.
Khaled is the second major departure from BofA's leveraged finance team in recent weeks, according to multiple people with knowledge of the move.
He was head of EMEA leveraged finance capital markets at Bank of America, taking the lead in 2021. Khaled joined BofA's leveraged finance team in 2018, after spending four years at HPS Investment Partners in its European private credit investment team and seven years at JP Morgan in its European leveraged finance origination team.
Khaled's departure follows Rahul Srinivasan, who was head of leveraged finance for EMEA. He will be joining Spanish pharmaceuticals and chemicals manufacturer Grifols as the new chief financial officer, LPC reported on July 9. Srinivasan will start his new role on September 16.
Preveen Samarasinghe and Fabian Ansorg, managing directors of EMEA leveraged finance capital markets at Bank of America, will be absorbing Khaled's role, the source said. Jeff Tannenbaum, head of EMEA capital markets, continues to lead equity capital markets, leveraged finance, debt capital markets and derivatives.
Samarasinghe joined Bank of America in 2014 from KPMG where he spent seven years across audit and corporate finance audit, focusing on debt advisory and restructuring. He works across leveraged loans and high yield bonds in his current role, covering business services, consumer retail and TMT sectors.
Ansorg joined Bank of America in 2022 from M&G Investment Management, where he worked on the buyside for 14 years. At Bank of America he is co-head of the leveraged finance research team responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating and executing primary and secondary leveraged finance investments, as well as managing the life cycle of these investments.
