Spencer Lake - Merrill Lynch
Spencer Lake is managing director and head of European corporate and public sector DCM for Merrill Lynch, based in London. He is responsible for the firm’s European issuer client relationships and origination activities across corporates and public sector and product groups such as ratings advisory, risk and liability management and transaction management. He has been with the firm since 1990 and has held a variety of positions including real estate investment banking, ratings advisory services, and head of debt origination for Asia Pacific.
Veenay Chheda - RBS Financial Markets
Veenay Chheda is director, hybrid capital at RBS Financial Markets. He joined RBS in July 2003 from Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein to continue working on hybrid capital structuring and capital efficiency for banks and insurance companies and has recently also been focusing on corporates. Prior to DrKW Chheda worked at the Deloitte & Touche corporate finance business, after qualifying as an ACA.
Geoff Tarrant - Deutsche Bank
Geoff Tarrant is global head of hybrid capital at Deutsche Bank, based in London. He heads a team responsible for the origination and structuring of hybrid capital issues for banks, insurance companies and corporates. Tarrant commenced this role in July 2004, having previously been co-head of DCM and head of structured debt in Australia.
Jean-Francois Mazaud - SG
Jean-Francois Mazaud is head of DCM corporate origination at SG, where he heads a team of 25 corporate originators. He joined SG in 1993 as vice president in ECM where he advised the French treasury on its privatisation programme. In 1998 Mazaud was appointed to develop SG’s equity-linked business. He started his banking career at Banque Indosuez in 1990, where he worked in aircraft financing in Paris and in Tokyo until 1993.
Simon Surtees - Gartmore
Simon Surtees is senior investment manager and head of credit research at Gartmore, where he joined in September 2002, from Bear Stearns where he was managing director for European fixed-income credit research. With 18 years of investment industry experience, he has previously worked as a senior analyst at BNP Paribas and HSBC and was responsible for ratings advisory and primary and secondary research at ING Barings. Surtees is a chartered accountant, previously spending four years working within Arthur Andersen’s financial markets division.
Niel Bisset - Moody’s
Niel Bisset is a senior vice president for Moody’s, based in the London office. He is responsible for a portfolio of issuers in the media, telecom, construction and diversified holding company sectors. As a member of Moody’s new instruments committee, he has contributed to the evolution of Moody’s hybrid methodology and its application to the hybrid securities issued in Europe in recent years. Before joining Moody’s he worked as a European equity analyst at BNP, and at Peat Marwick McLintock in London.
